What is oil treatment?

Oil treatment is a surface treatment where a special wood oil penetrates the wood and protects it from the inside. Instead of applying a hard film on top (like varnish does), oil provides a more natural surface and enhances the wood’s structure and color.

We use Woodcare+ Wood Floor Oil as a base treatment for wooden floors.

How to oil treat your wooden floor

Wash the floor with Woodcare+ Wood Cleaner. Rinse with clean water afterwards. The floor should then dry for at least 8 hours until it is completely dry.

• Stir the oil thoroughly. Distribute about 1 liter of oil over 10 m² with a short-haired paint roller or mechanically with a polishing pad.
• Let the oil sit on the surface for 15 minutes. If the oil is quickly absorbed into the wood, apply more oil.
• After 15 minutes, polish the oil into the wood with a beige polishing pad. Continue polishing until the wood is saturated.
• Wipe the floor with clean, lint-free cotton cloths before moving on to the next area. After this, the floor should not feel wet, and there should be no excess oil left on the surface.
• Continue using the above method until the entire floor is treated.
